Prayer to Open 117th Congress was Delivered in Name of Monotheistic God, “Amen and Awoman”

The 117th Congress opened with a moment of prayer delivered not to Almighty God, but to a “monotheistic god.”

We ask it in the name of the monotheistic god and the god known by many names and faiths,” Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) prayed. “Amen and A-Woman.”

Amen is Latin for “so be it.”

“It’s not a gendered word,” Rep. Guy Reschenthaler said. “Unfortunately, facts are irrelevant to progressives. Unbelievable.”
